Inspirational quote for artists

Posted on January 30, 2007, by dazzer67, under quotes.

‘There are painters who transform the sun to a yellow spot, but there are others who with the help of their art and their intelligence, transform a yellow spot into the sun.’

Simple poetry

Posted on January 28, 2007, by dazzer67, under creative exercises.

Here’s a nice and simple exercise to get the creative ideas flowing. And all you need is a piece of paper and a pen or pencil.

  1. write a word on the centre of a piece of paper
  2. around this word write ten others that are related
  3. use these words in a poem, or piece of prose

Very simple and a quick exercise that can be done at almost anytime - not that I would advocate such a thing in the middle of a long meeting at the office.

How to re-imagine your creation

Posted on January 25, 2007, by dazzer67, under inspiration, links.

There is a wonderful post at Darren Rowse’s ProBlogger. Guest writer Glen Stansberry gives some great advice on being creative with the content for your blog.

Now while this site isn’t primarily about ‘how to blog better’ the creative principle he suggests is. He shows how to think a little different in order to make your post more interesting. The same can be applied to anything you create. It is in the originality of our creation that it finds true expression, and this post provides one way of thinking to enable that.

For all the details follow the link and read the excellent article.

Too much preparation!?!

Posted on January 24, 2007, by dazzer67, under creativity basics, news.

A short apology for the lack of updates recently, and in particular a lack of actually getting Imaginality up and running with any sort of steam. The ethos behind Imaginality as you’ll either know or will realise as we journey here, is that the creative process  can be best realised  by seeing it as three processes:

  • Preparation
  • Inspiration
  • Perspiration

Unfortunately, I have been spending a little too much time in preparation and inspiration mode and have, as you can see, not really broken into any sweat yet. Call it procrastination, or simply being lazy, but what it has shown to me is that the basic ethos of the site is true. In order to realise your creative dreams you need to spend time in all three zones.

Here’s a great quote from web/ business guru (and all round cool dude) Seth Godin. It ties nicely into the ethos behind Imaginality so thought you may all like a nice link to it
